#23. IS THIS REALLY THE END? OR JUST THE BEGINNING....

Mmmm...It's an interesting question. Ihave to wonder about it myself. It has certainly opened up my eyes to the possibilities of what would be out there in the Future (in Web 2.0)

I have to say my favorite exercises were: (a)My Library Thing & Image Generators.

Image Generators because it's artistic & creative, and is a perfect promotional tool for our library to use on the Website, Flyers and the Television Mult-screen.

(b) My librarything because being a book reader- it interests me to know what other people are reading out there in the world. The book catalogue was a easy way of finding the book you wanted -simply by typing in the title of the book. The author would automatically be found.

This program has made me challenge myself- in trying the new & improved technological tool sites. Before Web 2.0, I was unsure of :-
(1)What a blog was?
(2)How to copy & paste Pictures onto HTML
(3)How to do a RSS Feed
(4)Load music onto Youtube
(5)Create a Rollyo Search Engine etc, etc

or Simply knowing what the terms: Wiki, Delicious, or Techn orati, etc, etc, meant. It has made me realize that you can never stop learning- because new technological sites/tools are coming out all the time. That is what the program has taught me.

And hopefully in the future, most of these sites will be used in our library websites for our Patrons.

In regards on how to improve the program's format or concept. We should link up to Schools,Colleges,Tafes & Universities and maybe do a blog post together, to share our own ideas.

In summing up, I have enjoyed participating in the Web 2.0 Program,Sure I had trouble with my passwords...They have all been challenges to me, but in different ways. But I know that if I didn't do Web 2.0 - I would of missed out on the opportunity of Learning. And the funny part is that I enjoyed the comments that people got from each other.

#22 AUDIOBOOKS (OR "THE END IS IN SIGHT ")

Firstly I owe my gratitude to a workmate who assisted me with downloading one of the audiobooks from Gutenberg's Audio eBook Collection...My eternal Thanks!!!

I then choose one of the classic novels "hound of the Baskerville's by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. One of Literature's finest writer's.

Firstly I had to adjust the sound. It was a bit loud at the start. Was mildly amused & distracted by the animation on the screen, whilst listening to the story.

These Audiobooks would be ideally suited for elderly patrons, who have bad eye sight, and can't read, this would work well for their needs. And also for patrons of mult-cultural background. They would be able to choose any novels and then get it translated in their own language...In fact, I think most patrons would enjoy and benefit by listening to these Audiobooks.

They would no longer have any overdues or library fines. Because when the loan period expires-the audio file is deleted from the Mp3 player.

These Audio eBook Collection are a technological achievement. And the library would benefit greatly by using this tool for their website...

#21. PODCASTS.......

Oh Woe is me........Tried both Podcast.net & Podcastalley.com and searched under Book Reviews & Library Book Reviews-some of the topics were not relevant. Also I looked under Library Survival Guide Podcast- the sound quality was bad-- couldn't listen to it. Some also did not play at all. Am still searching...

What Frustration? My next attempt I tried Library Channel- no sound at all Hmmm... others took too long to download. May need some assistance with this.

Did find One podcast-but unfortunately had trouble with my password so I wasn't able to continue...Slightly disappointed.

#20 YOU-TUBE....

What a journey it has been.. I can't believe I'm here in you-tube. Had trouble with my password again , surprise surprise!!! But I'm finally here- thanks to "On the Road" for his Time & Patience in helping load my you-tube on my Blog. And to a fellow Adm Staff for his patience, in helping me sort out my password problem, again, I thank ye.

I've picked" Across the universe trailer". Mainly because I'm a huge Beatles fan & an Art Lover as well. Been told this movie is brilliant, very psychodelic. And if you look carefully- you may just spot BONO from U2. See if you can find him.Hope you enjoy this Trailer....Cheers!!

19.WEB 2.0 AWARDS...

I've always had a secret passion for writing. So under the FUN STUFF in the WEB 2.0 AWARDS, I looked up on www.onesentence.org. And submitted a one sentence story... It was Fun.Also it was interesting to note what real stories people were writing about.

Also under VISUAL ARTS,I looked at www.thebroth.com, and found some of the collabrative Art ideas are inter-connected to FACEBOOK... Seems like fun- but do I dare? I particularly found SECRET CODE intriguing. It's where you can challenge anyone( who you choose) to try and decode your message...Mmmm seems like a challenge.

Had a brief look at the other Awards- but found myself going back to FUN STUFF & THE BROTH. It was an enjoyable experience.

#17. PLAYING AROUND WITH PB WIKI.......

My problem in this exercise was working out why my http: did not link under the Australian Blog List. I had to right click onto the http: which in turn-put me into the link box. I then had to add: katnumberart to paintingbynumbers.

Then it was just a matter of saving the page.I was then able to add my Favorite Music/Pastime Activity into the Sandbox Wiki. All in all,i really enjoyed doing the WIKI exercises, once I figured on how to link up my Http & URl.

It is a useful & enjoyable exercise- that can be used as a fun guide for borrowers or Librarians for general information...

My thanks to Carp De Diem again, for his help and patience........
